Overview

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Simulation, the Manager of Clinical Simulation is responsible for the daily operations, personnel supervision, and resource coordination of the Michael Tang Regional Center for Clinical Simulation. This role ensures the smooth execution of simulation activities, manages staff performance and scheduling, and supports the implementation of strategic initiatives led by the Director and Executive leadership. The Manager serves as the primary operational lead, ensuring high-quality service delivery, compliance with institutional policies, and effective communication across internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Operational Oversight

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Clinical Simulation Center, including scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow optimization.
  • Verify simulation documentation and case submissions from academic programs for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with curricular goals.
  • Align submitted materials with scheduled labs and ensure scenario fidelity and readiness.
  • Track simulation usage across programs and maintain accurate records for reporting and planning.
  • Release post-simulation evaluations and implement relevant changes based on feedback and performance data.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, safety protocols, and accreditation standards.
  • Maintain and regularly update documentation of operational procedures; lead continuous process improvement initiatives.

People Management

  • Supervise and support a team of full-time staff members and standardized patients, including performance evaluations, professional development, and conflict resolution.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to align goals, review performance metrics, and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Oversee timekeeping, leave tracking, and adherence to HR policies.

Budget and Resource Coordination

  • Monitor operational budgets in collaboration with the Director, ensuring responsible use of funds and timely reconciliation of expenditures.
  • Coordinate procurement, inventory, and maintenance of simulation equipment and supplies to support scheduled activities.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for faculty, staff, and students regarding simulation center operations.
  • Collaborate with academic leadership to support curricular integration, simulation planning, and scheduling.
  • Support external partnerships and vendor relationships as directed by the Director.

Quality Assurance and Reporting

  • Track and report on key performance indicators related to simulation usage, learner outcomes, and satisfaction.
  • Support accreditation and compliance documentation efforts in coordination with the Director.
  • Analyze evaluation data and operational trends to inform strategic improvements and resource planning.

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Perform additional responsibilities as delegated by the Director of Clinical Simulation to support departmental goals and institutional priorities.

Qualifications

Education:    

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, education, management, or a related field is required.

Experience:  

  • 3+ years of simulation experience required.
  • CHSE (Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator) or CHSOS (Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist) preferred.
