Overview

This full-time faculty position is a 12-month appointment with primary responsibilities for teaching and research in the School of Physical Therapy within Touro University Nevada’s College of Health and Human Services. This position fulfills duties to further the mission of the department, college, and University by participating in student education, scholarly activities, and University service. Faculty members are encouraged to conduct original research/scholarly activities and pursue extramural funding in their areas of interest. As a core faculty member, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of physical therapy professionals. Responsibilities

1. Teaching and Curriculum Development:

  • Delivering high-quality instruction to students in various physical therapy courses.
  • Designing and developing course content that aligns with the program's objectives and industry standards.
  • Facilitating engaging and interactive learning experiences that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and evidence-based practice.
  • Evaluating student performance, providing constructive feedback, and assessing learning outcomes effectively.

2. Mentoring and Advising:

  • Serving as a mentor to students, guiding them in their academic and professional pursuits.
  • Providing support and encouragement to students, helping them navigate challenges and facilitating their growth and development.

3. Professional Development:

  • Engaging in continuous professional development to stay current with advancements in physical therapy education, practice, and technology.
  • Participating in workshops, conferences, and seminars to enhance teaching strategies and maintain professional credentials.

4. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Education

  • A doctoral degree (Ph.D., DPT, or equivalent) in Physical Therapy or a related field.
  • A current and unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in the state of Nevada.

Experience

  • Clinical or teaching experience in Pediatrics or Neurologic Physical Therapy preferred.
  • Previous teaching experience in higher education is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in the field of physical therapy through clinical practice, research, and/or teaching.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and external partners.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the enthusiasm and motivation to contribute to the growth and development of the School of Physical Therapy.
