Overview

The School of Education Adjunct Faculty – School Counseling, under the supervision of the School Director, is responsible for supporting our Master’s in School Counseling students through maintaining currency and relevancy to assigned courses. Adjunct faculty are to actively engage and support students using differentiated approaches when teaching courses. This is a non-exempt position paid through course instruction.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide current and relevant instruction in assigned courses.
  2. Provide substantive feedback in course discussions and assignments to students.
  3. Be available to meet with students through phone, Zoom, or other sources to assist them in scholarly completion of coursework.
  4. Support and attend Program-wide meetings.
  5. Collaborate and support colleagues in implementation of internship and practicum requirements, as needed.
  6. Create and implement courses for School Counseling program.
  7. Participate in faculty directed activities integral to the university system
  8. Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum that conforms with the Program’s mission, goals, and objectives.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Masters Degree required, doctorate preferred, in School Counseling School Psychology, Special Education, or related field from a US accredited college or
  • Successful graduate-level teaching experience, face-to-face and/or online.
  • Experience in course and program design.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum five years of K-12 counseling experience
  • Teaching experience at the University level – preferred online course instruction
  • Multi-disciplinary experience in working with K-12 students.
  • Knowledgeable AND experienced in individual and group counseling.
  • Strong skills in child and family counseling.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team with other Program and University faculty and colleagues. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to address diverse audiences
  • Highly organized, self-starter. 
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
