Overview

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for recording and reconciliation of revenue, multiple bank accounts, restricted funds, endowments, prepaid and fixed assets.  The Senior Staff Accountant will assist the Financial and Budget Analyst with the preparation of monthly variance reports.  The Senior Staff Accountant will ensure timely posting of tenant rents and on-campus self-service food operations to ensure monthly amounts are accurate.  The Senior Staff Accountant shall work with the financial and budget analysist to provide monthly clinical benchmarking reports for the Touro Nevada Health Center and Touro University Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities, and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

BROAD RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Senior Staff Accountant will be providing specific supporting and analytical reports related to the fiscal function of the University to include, but not limited to, financial statements, schedules, and other related analysis work.  In addition, this individual will be knowledgeable in all of the functions of the accounting department to include purchasing, accounts payable and accounts receivable.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Complete reconciliations for all bank accounts monthly.
  • Collection and submission of all accounts receivable NON-BURSAR. This includes donations, additional tuition payments, and clinic revenue (cash, checks, and credit cards).
  • Support the accounts payable and purchasing function as necessary.
  • Maintenance of real estate account activity to include Black Mountain Business Park.
  • Manage and maintain all credit cards issued to University employees. This includes processing payments, ordering of new cards and canceling of old cards when necessary.
  • Maintain Touro University Nevada fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
  • Maintain Touro University Nevada schedule of prepaid assets.
  • Maintain a clean “Incomplete Document” report found in TouroOne. This includes the removal of all requisitions, invoices and journal entries that are not processed completely or denied.
  • Troubleshoot problems with TouroOne and Unimarket.
  • Assist Touro University System Controller’s office with any and all audit requests.
  • Provide end user training relating to accounting policies and procedures.
  • Monthly reconcile all restricted fund accounts
  • Each trimester and semester, coordinate with Bursar scholarships awarded to students coming from restricted fund accounts to include, name of student, program, estimated year of graduation, and scholarship amount. Include these details in the monthly reconciliation of restricted funds.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR RELATED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in accounting.
